Blootje
Julia (Anna Bartels) unexpectedly joins her father Cees (Bert Wagenaar van Kreveld) and his new girlfriend Ann (Daphne Agten) on a holiday to a naturist camping. She is not only confronted with her discomfort around nudity, but also struggles with her father's new relationship and the absence of her mother. A budding friendship with the free-spirited, funny Nenah (Melody van Gompel) slowly helps Julia accept both herself and her new situation.
When IC Margien van Doesen sent me the script, I knew immediately this was exactly the kind of project this work is for. A story set on a naturist camping, not to be confused with a nudist area. Naturism has its own philosophy, its own community, and its own values around freedom, body acceptance, and mutual respect. That distinction mattered, and exploring it was part of what made this project feel like pioneering work.
Together with producer Sammy Vermeulen, we worked closely on casting backgrounds and collaborated with Camping Diepven and members of the NFN (Naturisten Federatie Nederland), bringing them in as extras and living the philosophy of no stories about us without us.
What stayed with me most was the reversal: on this set, the dressed crew were the minority. That shifted everything, including how we managed the green room. The sign on the door said it simply: only enter when dressed. I will never forget that.
