Kleine Wereld
Kleine Wereld is a coming-of-age film told entirely from Meis' perspective: her confusion, her longing, her quiet grief for a childhood that keeps slipping away. A story about what happens when a child is surrounded by adult complexity but has nowhere to put it.
Working with young actors on material like this asked for a specific approach. Together with director Thomas, I developed a method where the script was written from the point of view of each character separately, giving the child actors their own version of the story.
One that explained the intimate and adult themes at the right level for them. I developed a tailored intimacy breakdown for the production that mapped every adult theme clearly, and worked closely with the parents throughout the process.
The question we kept coming back to: what do you want your child to experience in a professional environment and what first experiences do you want them to have in their own time, in their own life?
That distinction guided everything.
