Pasará

Joshua, 26, travels solo to Sitges (Europe's gay capital) hoping to find the sense of belonging he can't quite reach at home. His friends fully accept who he is, but something is missing. A deeper recognition. He wonders if he has to leave everything familiar behind to finally find it. What he discovers in Sitges is more complicated than he imagined.

Pasará is a film about the boxes we build inside queer spaces, and the quiet pressure to fit into them.

Director Jarne Hagelaars draws on real events to tell stories with an unfiltered honesty, placing the viewer so close to the protagonist that the journey feels shared. The film was made in partnership with the municipality of West Betuwe and is aimed at queer youth between 16 and 25 who have ever felt on the outside of the very community they were looking for.

It's also a question posed to all of us: how do we become kinder to our selves, and softer on the lines we draw?
